A self portrait through a fractal lens of London wedding photographer Owen Billcliffe

For couples who love photography, but don't love being photographed (just like me!)

Hi, I’m Owen, I’m a taller-than-average London-based wedding photographer all the way from sunny Glasgow, and I’ve been photographing weddings in London, across the UK, and around the world since 2012. I make a living doing one of my favourite things (making photos), and I know what I make is going to mean the world to both of you, and maybe even generations of your family to come. That’s pretty awesome.

The true story of your wedding day

Whatever you’re planning for your wedding day, for me there’s really only one way to capture the story in photos, and that’s by spending it with you from start to finish, like a friend with a camera.

So I’ll be with you from the pre-wedding prep to share that nervous excitement whether you’re in a suite at your London venue, an Airbnb nearby, or even just at home.

And then after the ceremony and the confetti I’m with you all the way through to your first dance as a married couple, and well into the night as the party kicks off on the dance floor, making photos that capture all the big wedding moments you remember, and plenty more you missedcheck out my portfolio to see what I mean.

Never forget how you felt that day

These photographs are all about keeping all your own memories and emotions from the day alive forever. So I won’t turn your day into a fashion shoot, or ‘direct’ the action all day long. It’s your day, I’m just sharing it with you.

Sure, we’ll do a few family group shots, but only a few. And I’ll get arty with some relaxed wedding portraits, but I’ll never ask you to look at me and say “CHEESE!”, we had to do that enough when we were kids, right?

A bride’s mum once told me most of their guests didn’t even realise they’d had a professional wedding photographer, “and I mean that as a compliment!” – mission accomplished.

I love London wedding venues

I’ve lived in London for 20 years and it’s one of the most diverse and creatively exciting cities in the world. And there’s so many stunning wedding venues to choose from I don’t think I’ll ever get to visit them all in my lifetime – although I’m giving it my best shot!

Perhaps you’re getting married in the urban chic of Clapton Country Club, or prefer the tranquility of Cambridge Cottage in Kew Gardens. You could have your ceremony in the medieval setting of Fulham Palace or in the contemporary style of Andaz Liverpool Street. There’s even peaceful countryside wedding venues within reach like Oaks Farm in Surrey, or Gaynes Park in Essex.

But wherever the wedding is, be it London or Rome, I’ll be with you from the moment the rollers go in, right through to the post-wedding party on the dancefloor that night.

London micro-weddings & elopements

If you’re planning a smaller wedding celebration in London with just a couple of dozen guests, or maybe even an elopement with just the two of you and a couple of witnesses, you still deserve photographs capturing your wedding memories. I offer bespoke wedding photography packages tailored to small London weddings, especially in the quieter months, mid-week, and at short notice.

I’ve photographed small ceremonies and elopements at all of London’s most popular venues that cater for smaller wedding ceremonies, such as Chelsea Old Town Hall, Old Marylebone Town Hall, and Southwark Register Office, as well as larger venues like Fulham Palace and Asia House. And then after your ceremony if you’ve booked a private dining experience at restaurants like The Ivy, or Somerset House, I’ll come along with you to capture reception drinks and some toasts.

Relaxed engagement sessions

Engagement sessions are very laid-back. Just think of it as a mini-date with me tagging along to make some pics. And you definitely don’t need to be ‘posers’ – just focus on each other and we’ll make creative, natural photos that feel like YOU and look great framed. Plus you’ll get to know me and my photography style, and feel even more comfortable on your wedding day.

London engagement sessions last about 60-90 minutes. I’ve made gorgeous photos in Battersea Park, Greenwich Park, Regents Park, even just wandering along the Thames in Richmond. If you’d love a more urban feel we can explore the side streets of central London, or even just your neighbourhood.
