Some favourite Chelsea venues for a small wedding reception

A lot of couples celebrate with drinks and lunch afterwards and Chelsea has plenty of venues to choose from. Here's a few of the lovely places they've taken me to.

The Hollywood Arms

Website: https://www.hollywoodarmschelsea.com
Address: 45 Hollywood Road, Chelsea, SW10 9HX

Click for route from Chelsea Old Town Hall

The Hollywood Arms public house has a large private room upstairs that fits 30-40 for drinks and a three course lunch – and what a lunch, they looked after me very well! It’s around 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes in a black cab.

The Surprise

Website: https://www.thesurprise-chelsea.co.uk
Address: 6 Christchurch Terrace, Chelsea, SW3 4AJ

Click for route from Chelsea Old Town Hall

The Surprise public house is seven minutes walk away and a lovely place to finish, or even start, your day (I’ve met the groom here a couple of times). Their private room upstairs fits around 20-30 guests, and and their canapés and menu are delicious.

The Ivy Chelsea Garden

Website: https://theivychelseagarden.com
Address: 195 -197 King’s Road, London SW3 5EQ

Click for route from Chelsea Old Town Hall

The Ivy Chelsea Garden brings the familiar luxury of The Ivy to a relaxed yet sophisticated restaurant just 2 minutes walk from Chelsea Old Town Hall. Their private dining room is a long, gold-gilded space perfect for a couple of dozen guests.

Daphne's

Website: https://www.daphnes-restaurant.co.uk/
Address: 112 Draycott Avenue, London, SW3 3AE

Click for route from Chelsea Old Town Hall

Daphne’s is a charming Italian restaurant 10 to 15 minutes walk from Chelsea Register Office, and their elegant Conservatory can seat around 40 for your post-ceremony lunch.

How long do you need to book for your wedding?

I’ve got two packages that suit most couples getting married at Chelsea Old Town Hall, or you can book by the hour (four hour minimum). For more details get in touch and I’ll send you my full client guide.

Ninety minutes

Ideal for small weddings with just a few guests. I start half an hour before the ceremony for arrivals, then after confetti and group shots on the Chelsea Old Town Hall steps there’s about 15-20 minutes left to wander Chelsea’s back streets making some portraits.

Three hours

The best option if you’re celebrating afterwards, and you’ll get a lot more lovely candid photos in your gallery. The extra time is just right for half an hour or so of drinks, a speech or two, and the first course of your lunch. If you’d like me to stay longer just add time by the hour.

Bring your photos to life in print

How will you enjoy your Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding photos in, say, ten, twenty, fifty years from now? The photos we print are the ones we enjoy most often, and printing your favourites in a beautiful custom-made book brings them to life like nothing else.

Handmade Heirloom albums

The most exquisite book you’ll ever own, nothing compares to holding your very own handcrafted wedding album in your hands and leafing through the pages. All your favourite photos across at least 10 lay-flat spreads of thick fine art paper, bound by hand in linen or leather, with your choice of end-paper colour, and engraved, debossed or foil-laid cover text. This is the legacy piece your photos deserve, destined to become a family heirloom.

Available in 10×10″ and 12×12″ for your main album, with a 6×6 version available as a duplicate copy for parents.

Leatherette hardback books

A more affordable machine-made album ideal for a Chelsea Old Town Hall elopement, these start with 10 lay-flat spreads of thick art-white paper, bound in leatherette hardback with a laser-etched or printed cover title. The lower price means you can add loads more photos and not break the bank, and still have something physical to remember your day.

This option comes in 10×10 only for your main album, with an 8×8 version available as a duplicate copy for parents.

Frequently asked questions

What do we get?

The price always includes a pre-wedding chat on the phone or Zoom, photography, travel to and from London, editing, a private gallery to share, a set of digitals for your full personal use; there’s usually around 100 photos from a 90 minute booking, and around 200 from a three hour booking. And there’s 20% off any albums in your package when you book, too.

Can we get albums and prints?

Absolutely. You can order long-lasting museum-quality prints from your gallery, and custom-designed books of your favourites directly from me, any time. And you’re welcome to make your own prints using your digitals, of course.

How & when do we get the photos?

Your private online gallery of finished photos is usually ready 3-4 weeks later, depending how busy we are that month. You’ll be able to enjoy it on a computer, tablet or smartphone. All your guests can download web-friendly digitals for free, and the bride and groom will be able to download one full set of high resolution print-ready digital files too.

Do you do portraits and group shots?

If you’d like to have some it’s no problem. With a 90 minute booking there’s time for a few key group shots and a few portraits on the Town Hall steps. With longer bookings we can do more shots at a different location.

What if it rains?

The simple answer: bring umbrellas! We can still make lovely group shots on the Chelsea Old Town Hall steps under umbrellas – matching white umbrellas look great! There may be an opportunity to do a couple of group shots and a few couple portraits on the staircase inside but it depends on their schedule that day – give Chelsea Old Town Hall a call to ask what they’ll allow inside if there’s heavy rain.

How do we book you to be our Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding photographer?

After we’ve had a chat, if you’re ready to book just get back in touch to let me know what you’d like. If the date’s still available, it’s all yours! I’ll send you booking forms and my contract, and request a non-refundable first payment of 50% of the package total. The final balance is due four weeks before the wedding.
