Wedding photography at Pylewell Park, Hampshire
UPDATE: the preview slideshow is now available to view: https://gallery.owenbphoto.com/a5F8F
When Emma and James got in touch to ask me to be their Pylewell Park wedding photographer (on the recommendation of their friend Holly) I was absolutely thrilled. It’s always a privilege to be trusted to document a wedding, but to be sharing their day at this spectacular country house in the heart of Hampshire made it even more special. The country house itself sits amidst 1500 acres of land including a church, gardens, 15-acre lake and even a private beach, so the photographer in me honestly could have spent the whole weekend there!
But of course the stars of the show are Emma and James, and their wonderful family and friends, who made me feel so welcome. They even invited me to their pre-wedding barbecue on the lawn at Pylewell House the night before where I got to meet everyone in much more relaxed surroundings, enjoy some burgers, sausages and a cider or two, and actually chat to people without needing to tear myself away to do my job – although of course I took my wee Fujifilm X100V with me, I don’t go anywhere without it…
Then on the day it just felt that little bit more like hanging out with friends, which is exactly the sort of relaxed vibe I go for when I’m making wedding photos, keeping everything as real and friendly and candid as possible. From those first couple of hours in the bridal suite, all the way through to the most epic dance party that night, there were smiling happy faces all round.
And not only was everyone so welcoming, they’re talented too – the bridal party makeup is by Emma’s friend Neecol, and that three tier wedding cake is Emma’s own lemon, chocolate and vanilla creation – she even found time to prepare a deliciously moist carrot cake for their barbecue too, slathered in perfectly crafted swirled icing. Outstanding!
So after such a great wee adventure travelling down to Hampshire for the weekend I felt quite emotional saying goodbye. Congratulations, Emma & James, and thank you so much for having me along to your beautiful, perfect wedding day. It’s an absolute pleasure to have spent time with you all. Here’s just some of my favourite moments so far, and of course there’s a lot more to come.
