I am not a wedding photographer...

.... I'm a lovely-people-who-happen-to-be-getting-married photographer, actually, dahling.

A self portrait through a fractal lens of London wedding photographer Owen Billcliffe

If you’re looking for a highfalutin Wedding Photographer (capital W, capital P) who rocks up in a full morning suit and treats your portraits like a high-end fashion shoot, run away now! Coz in the nicest possible way… that ain’t me.

But if you want to actually remember the people who were there, the love they gave you, and the shapes they threw on the dancefloor, then I’m your man. I love photographing people – who just happen to be getting married – and the memories they make together. So that’s what I do.

I fit in like a friend with a camera so you can forget about me and enjoy yourselves while I capture all the big moments you remember, and loads more you never noticed happening. No fuss, no drama, and as little posing as possible.

All-day wedding photography

Whether you’re getting married here in good ol’ Blighty or jetting off to a destination wedding, I don’t want to miss a thing. From the nervous excitement of pre-wedding prep in the morning through to the party that night, I’ll be in there with you like a guest with a camera, recording it all to cherish forever.

Hourly wedding photography

Tailored quotes for small weddings and elopements that only need photography for a few hours. Ideal for London register office weddings like Chelsea Old Town Hall and Old Marylebone Town Hall plus celebrations at a nearby venue afterwards.

Couples portraits sessions

Also known as engagement or pre-wedding session, but really it's just the two of you (plus me!) having a mini-date somewhere special to you, away from the excitement of a wedding day. It could be somewhere in London, or we could take a day-trip to Paris - whatever you're in the mood for! No need to be 'posers' - just be yourselves and I'll make photos that capture your love and personalities.

Handcrafted albums

Long after the wedding is over, this is what remains: all your favourite memories collected in a British-made hand-crafted album bound in linen or leather, something real you can hold in your hands and cherish for generations. This is the way they’re meant to be enjoyed – no plugs, no screens, no Wi-Fi required.

Real wedding day memories

Whether you need a London wedding photographer or you’re going further afield, for me there’s really only one way to capture your big day and that’s by spending it with you from prep to party.

So I’ll rock up in the morning to share that nervous pre-wedding excitement with you, whether you’re at home, in an Airbnb, or a hotel suite. And then after the ceremony and the confetti I’m with you all the way through to your first dance as a married couple, and the party beyond.

All day long I’ll capture all the big moments you remember, and plenty more you missed – check out my portfolio to see what I mean.

Never forget how you felt

These photographs are all about keeping all your own memories and emotions from the day alive forever. So I won’t turn your day into a fashion shoot, or ‘direct’ the action all day long. It’s your day, I’m just sharing it with you.

Of course we can do some family and friends group shots – it’s not like you get all these people together all the time after all. And I’ll get arty with some relaxed wedding portraits, but it’s not a ‘look at me and say “CHEESE!”‘ sort of thing, we had to do that enough when we were kids…

A bride’s mum once told me most of their guests didn’t even realise they’d had a professional wedding photographer, “and I mean that as a compliment!” – mission accomplished.

I'll go wherever the wedding is

One of the best parts of being a London wedding photographer has got to be the endless variety of venues. There’s so many to choose from I don’t think I’ll ever visit them all – although I’m giving it my best shot.

Perhaps you’re getting married in the urban chic of Clapton Country Club, the medieval setting of Fulham Palace or in the contemporary style of Andaz Liverpool Street. There’s peaceful countryside wedding ,venues within reach like Oaks Farm in Surrey, or Gaynes Park in Essex.

But I’ll go wherever you’re getting married, and I’ve shot around the UK including Hampshire, Oxford and Cambridge, the Cotswolds, and Scotland.

Small weddings & elopements

If you’re planning an intimate ‘micro-wedding’ in London, or maybe an elopement with just the two of you and a couple of witnesses, I’d love to hear from you. I’ve got ninety minute and three hour packages, then hourly rates for total flexibility.

I’ve photographed ceremonies and elopements at all of London’s most popular venues that cater for smaller weddings, such as Chelsea Old Town Hall, Old Marylebone Town Hall, and Southwark Register Office, as well as larger venues like Fulham Palace and Asia House. And then after your ceremony if you’ve booked a private dining experience at restaurants like The Ivy, or Somerset House, I’ll come along with you to capture reception drinks and some toasts.

Relaxed engagement sessions

You don’t have to wait for your wedding day to get some great pictures of you two together. My sessions for couples are very laid-back and ideal for couples who don’t have many ‘nice’ pictures of themselves that aren’t selfies.

Think of it like a mini-date… with me tagging along! And you definitely don’t need to be ‘posers’ – we’ll have some fun with it and make some creative, natural photos that feel like YOU. Plus you’ll get to know me and my photography style, and feel even more comfortable on your wedding day.

London engagement sessions last about 60 minutes or so. I’ve made gorgeous photos in Battersea Park, Greenwich Park, Regents Park, even just wandering along the Thames in Richmond. If you’d love a more urban feel we can explore your neighbourhood, or the side streets of central London. We could even jump on the EuroStar and head to Paris!
