Ashtead Church & Garden Wedding

I was introduced to Rachel and Jonny by their wedding planner, Ali Welsh, who’s been behind some of the most spectacular events I’ve photographed in the last few years so I knew it was going to be a wedding to remember. It didn’t disappoint, and Rachel & Jonny were such a pleasure to be around this was truly one of the most enjoyable and memorable weddings I photographed this year.

Rachel and Jonny married at St Giles Church in Ashtead, Surrey, and combined a traditional church ceremony full of laughter with a spectacular garden party, complete with two stunning marquees connected by a passageway lined with trees, and incredible entertainment by Flood The Floor. I ended up spending about thirteen hours with them to capture the whole story, and honestly could have been there even longer, it was such a fantastic day!

I started in the morning with candid documentary photography of both Rachel and Jonny getting ready: Rachel at her parents home where whole bridal party had their hair and makeup done to perfection, against a background of the garden being transformed for the party; and Jonny and his groomsmen in the next village over, having an altogether different morning of suiting up, refining their speeches, and four-player rounds of Mario Kart 64 (stone cold classic game, fact).

For the reception we were under cover of two stunning marquees. The wedding breakfast marquee was a sea of lavender table settings and beautiful centrepieces,overlooked by an ivy-covered trestle lit by tiny glowing lightbulbs,. I could have captured details all day!
