Rural barn weddings at Oaks Farm

London offers such a wide range of inner city and suburban wedding venues, but if you’re looking for something more rural you don’t have to go far. Head just a few miles out into Surrey and you’ll find Oaks Farm, a gorgeous boutique venue with a countryside feel. I’ve been an Oaks Farm wedding photographer a handful of times over the years and it’s always a pleasure to be back.

Cat and Jake are both friends of mine, and asked me if I’d be their wedding photographer as they loved my documentary approach to telling their wedding day story, and of course I said yes – especially when I found out their wedding venue was the beautiful Oaks Farm Weddings, such a gorgeous peaceful little venue nestled in the heart of the Surrey and Croydon countryside just outside London.

We started at Devere Selsdon Estate Hotel where Cat and her bridesmaids were being made beautiful by Sarah Stacey. I just love capturing candid little moments and details during the bridal prep; those details are all part of what makes up the day but they’re so easily forgotten by the end of the day, so I always make sure to fit plenty into your album so you’ll never forget them.

Then onto Oaks Farm where Jake and the guests were already waiting – cracking socks, Jake! The ceremony was held in the Stables building, and afterwards we took a little time out to make some informal portraits of Cat and Jake themselves – like most of the couples I work with candid photos mean more to them, but we had some nice time away from the crowd to make something of just them together.

Finally it was time to kick back with some MASSIVE Jenga and Connect 4, speeches, food, and drinks, spread out over the rolling green fields of Oaks Farm. Of course, it helps that it was such a gorgeous day and so much space! Lots of places to hide, and lots of interesting angles.
