I’m ashamed to say I’d not heard of The Andaz in Liverpool Street before Lauren and Alex asked me to be their Andaz wedding photographer. So I popped down for a quick recce a week before the wedding and WOW, what a venue! The whole building feels incredibly special, contemporary and decadent at the same time.
One of my favourite images is the one looking up through the white circular space with Lauren and Alex embracing, but the Andaz’s jewel in the crown is their main reception hall. It’s a cavernous room in brilliant white with a spectacular skylight. That skylight has actually survived multiple wars with only a single pane of glass damaged, marked by a solid red replacement pane – see if you can spot it in one of the photos below.
This was also my first Jewish wedding, and what an incredible experience! When it came to the reception the wedding traditions I’m used to went right out the window and instead of ‘speeches, dinner, more speeches, dancing’ the celebrations started with dancing from the moment Lauren and Alex made their entrance, to the first of many sets by Totem, an incredible high-energy band that really know how to get you on your feet.
Here’s some of my favourites from their whole wonderful day. If you like my style of documentary wedding photography and you’re planning your own London or destination wedding (or know of someone who is) I’d love to have a chat about it – just get in touch to say hello and we’ll take it from there. Speak to you soon!
